The Space Coast Wire is for neighbors. Comments are for signed-in members (membership is free), and we want them to be a friendly place to talk about local news.

Do

• Stay on the topic of the story.
• Disagree with ideas, not people.
• Share what you know first-hand, and say how you know it.
• Report comments that break these rules.

Don't

• Insult, name-call or attack anyone, including people in the story.
• Use profanity, slurs, or ALL CAPS shouting.
• Threaten, harass or encourage harm to anyone.
• Share anyone's private information, such as a home address, phone number, email, workplace or photos of them, including your own.
• State rumors or accusations about real people as fact. Don't say someone committed a crime unless they've been charged, and say so.
• Name or identify anyone under 18 involved in a crime, crash or court case, or any victim of sexual abuse or assault, even if you think you know who it is.
• Post spam, ads, or links.
• Copy in other people's articles, photos or videos. Short quotes are fine.
• Post anything illegal, or pretend to be someone else, including The Space Coast Wire staff.

How we moderate

• We can remove any comment or turn off commenting for anyone, at our discretion. We don't edit comments: we publish them as written or remove them.
• Your first comment is reviewed by a person before it appears.
• Comments with links, or that look rude or hostile, are held for review instead of posting right away.
• Comments reported by 3 members, or reported once for naming a minor or abuse victim, are hidden until we review them.
• We remove comments that aren't friendly, and we may tell you why on your Account page.
• After 2 removed comments, your comments need approval before they appear. Repeated or serious problems can lead to losing commenting or your account.
