Waves, wind, tides, water temperature and rip current risk for Brevardβs beaches, from NOAA buoys and the National Weather Service in Melbourne, plus our own 5-day Poor/Fair/Good estimate for four public surf spots.
Data refreshes about every 20 minutes Β· NWS surf forecast issued Sat 11:00 AM ET
β οΈ Rip current risk (Rest Of Today): High
Life-threatening rip currents are likely in the surf zone. The National Weather Service says swimming is not advised.
HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT
HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM EDT SUNDAY
Stay safe: swim near a lifeguard. If a rip current pulls you, donβt fight it: stay calm, float, and swim parallel to the shore until you are out of it, then swim back at an angle. If someone else is in trouble, get help from a lifeguard or call 911; donβt go in after them without a flotation device. (NWS rip current safety)

NWS Surf Zone Forecast National Weather Service, Melbourne
Poor / Fair / Good is our own estimate, not an NWS or NOAA forecast. For each day we average the NWS gridded forecast for that spot from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and score it:
Wave height: under 1 ft is Poor (near flat). 1β2 ft = 1 point, 2β4 ft = 2, 4β6 ft = 3, over 6 ft = 2 (big and best left to experienced surfers).
Wave period: 10 seconds or longer = +2, 7β9 seconds = +1, shorter = 0. Longer periods usually mean cleaner, more powerful waves.
Wind: offshore (from the west) or under 8 mph = +1. Onshore (from the east) 8β14 mph = β1, 15 mph or more = β2. Cross-shore 15 mph or more = β1.
Total: 4 or more = Good, 2β3 = Fair, below 2 = Poor.
Rip current risk does not change the rating, so check the safety box above every time. Conditions change fast and every beach is different; this is a guide, not a promise. When a source doesnβt load, we show its last good copy with the time, or say the data is missing; we never fill in numbers.
